Meeting Times
At Topsham Baptist Church, we enjoy meeting at regular times during the week, as well as having several special events and meals throughout the year. Click each tab below to learn more!
During the school year on Sunday mornings at 9:30, we meet for Sunday School. Typically, Pastor Kevin will be teaching a particular course each semester, with a break for summer and a shorter winter break as well. For full details on our schedule, check out our calendar here.
During the summer break and the winter break, we do still meet together before the Sunday Morning Meeting, but we meet at 10:00, not 9:30. It's during this time that we share testimonies, prayer requests, and have a time of fellowship (usually accompanied by breakfast snacks and coffee).
The Sunday School Hour typically ends around 10:20, giving some time to greet others or otherwise prepare before the Sunday Morning Meeting begins.
Every Sunday at 10:30, we meet for our Morning Meeting (also called a Morning Service or Worship Meeting, depending on your background).
This meeting goes as one might expect in most circles: during this time, we'll sing a few songs together, pass the offering plate, go over announcements, and then a message is brought by Pastor Michael. This time is precious to us! Sermons here at TBC aren't quickly cobbled together or hastily prepared. Pastor Michael works hard to make sure each lesson brought is carefully researched, honestly approached, and fervently delivered with the passion that the Bible deserves.
Afterwards, we typically observe the Lord's Supper -- a time of communion and memorial as Christ prescribed. All baptized believers are welcome to participate.
The Sunday Morning Meeting typically lasts one hour, from 10:30 to 11:30, but plenty of folks stick around to chat and fellowship afterwards.
Midweek In The Word takes place at 6:00 on Wednesday Evenings, and usually is held at the church building. Sometimes, however, we'll meet at a church member's home. So you'll want to keep an eye on the calendar if you're looking to visit!
During this time, our church will spend time in conversation and Bible study around a particular topic or book of the Bible. For instance, we might be going through the Proverbs one Wednesday at a time, or we might be making our way through the Epistle of James on Wednesdays. There's no bad time to jump in, so we hope you'll come out! Midweek In The Word is a great opportunity to get to know the folks of the church in a more informal setting.
Sometimes, we'll also meet on a Sunday Afternoon in lieu of the familiar "evening service" in some faith traditions. Most times, we'll have a potluck, but sometimes we'll head out to a restaurant or a local park together to spend some extra time with each other on Sundays.
If you're looking to join us for our next Sunday Afternoon Meeting, please check out the calendar to learn when the next Sunday Afternoon gathering takes place!
Whether it's Christmas caroling in the community, or heading over to a member's house to light off some fireworks (Topsham isn't too keen on those...), or just having a "beat the heat" BBQ on church grounds on a hot summer Saturday, we're always up to something at TBC. We even have a couple of fun banquets each year and, yes, even a costume party every fall! We believe that churches should "do life together" like they did back in the first century.
